Cumbrian Scouts to learn apprentice style Entrepreneur skills
By admin on Jul 19, 2011 with Comments 0
Following Tom Pellereau winning the Apprentice this week. Cumbrian Scout Ambassador, Fred Story, is challenging Scouts to take up the Scout Associations new Entrepreneur Challenge.
The Entrepreneur Challenge aims to develop Scouts’ nature for enterprise through activities which enable them to set up, or create an idea for, a Scouting enterprise or business. Scouts will need to demonstrate an aptitude for understanding the mind for business principles.
The challenge was developed in conjunction with Richard Harpin HomeServe Chief Executive and founder of The Enterprise Trust.
Local businessman, Fred Story said: “Being a Scout definitely showed me how to work in a team as well as relying on my individual ability. This is the same in business. Scouting has always existed to promote leadership, creativity and effort and we want to apply these values to 21st Century Britain. There has never been a more important time to encourage entrepreneurship in this country. I hope this scheme and awards will foster the business leaders of tomorrow that our country needs.”
Completing the Challenge
The badge will be awarded to Scouts for demonstrating a Mind for Business, doing one of the following:
- Create a successful Scouting enterprise as part of a small group
- Create a business idea and present it to a small panel of relevant people (leaders, parents or local business people)
- Present, as a case study, a successful business that they are involved in running
