Groups asked to book their space to watch Eden Torch Relay events

Community groups and organisations who are bringing a significant number of people to see Olympic Torch Relay events in Eden (Brough, Appleby and Penrith) on 20 June are being encouraged to contact the local District Council, so they can be allocated designated spaces at the celebration events.

Eden District Council’s Deputy Leader and Communities Portfolio Holder, Mary Robinson said: “We want everyone to enjoy the Olympic Torch Relay events safely in Eden on 20 June. Therefore we are encouraging community groups, schools and organisations who may bring a significant numbers of people to watch the Olympic Torch Relay to contact us before Noon on 30 May 2012, then we can allocate a designated place for them at their preferred event, this will be a major help for the agencies carrying the event planning.”
