A teenager who got away with £290 in an armed raid on a Carlisle betting shop has been jailed for three years and four months.
19-year-old Tyler James Elliot, of Mardale Road, Carlisle, was arrested two days after going into the branch of Coral bookmakers on Newlaithes Avenue, Morton, on Tuesday August 6.
Although it was a very hot day he was wearing a thick hooded sweatshirt, a scarf and gloves.
He threatened shop manager Michael Smith with a large kitchen knife and ran off with money from the safe and till.
He later told police he needed the money to pay off a drugs debt.
Today Elliot pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery.
