One year until The Lakes Single Malt is fully mature

the-lakes-spirit-02-copySaturday the 17th of December, marked exactly one year until The Lakes Single Malt Whisky is fully mature.

The first distillation of the The Lakes Spirit, began on the 16th of December 2014 and it will legally become a whisky on the 17th of December 2017; after maturing for exactly three years and one day.

This Christmas will be the last opportunity for whisky lovers to join The Lakes Distillery’s Founders’ Club and invest in a piece of Cumbrian whisky history, 2975 exclusive memberships were available and less than 20% of Founders’ Club places now remain.

The young spirit, is showing exceptional promise and at just 15 months old was bestowed with a rating of 90/100 by the renowned Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. Although no-one can yet know the true character of The Lakes Single Malt, it is expected to be a light, fruity spirit, characterised by the range of casks used in the process.

Founders will receive one 70cl bottle of The Lakes Spirit, from the first ever 100 casks created, every year for the next 10 years as well as a host of VIP benefits, including: unlimited distillery tours, 10% off purchases from the online shop, priority invitations to Founders’ Club events, such as Founders’ Day and their name engraved on the Founders’ Plaque at the Distillery.

The first commemorative release of The Lakes Single Malt will be available to pre-order from September 2017 and will be the first Cumbrian single malt whisky.
