A MAN will go on trial before a jury later this year after denying a death drive charge.
Nigel Stevens, 55, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court to face one allegation.
During a brief hearing in front of Judge Peter Davies, Stevens pleaded not guilty to causing the death of David Joseph Mitchell by dangerous driving.
The charge arises out of a road traffic collision, on November 6 last year. This occurred on the B5305 at Greenrigg Farm, near Wigton.
Ford Transit van driver Mr Mitchell, of Waverton, died after suffering serious injuries. He was aged 53.
Stevens is said to have been driving a Scania truck.
As a result of his not guilty plea, Stevens, of Greenrigg Cottages, Wigton, will go on trial at the crown court.
This is due to start on June 19.
In the meantime he was remanded on unconditional bail.
