Two hurt in north Cumbria house blaze

At 6:44am today, Thursday 16 February firefighters were called to a fire involving a single storey semi detached property on the road leading from Hethersgill cross roads north to the houses east of Newlands.

The fire was well alight when the fire crews arrived.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two hose reel jets were used to tackle the fire.

“Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus.

“Firefighters removed the roof tiles to allow them to fight the fire.

“Nobody was trapped inside the property, but an ambulance was requested for two casualties.

“Police were requested to attend the incident to close the road.”
