Central Academy opens its doors during half term to support students preparing for GCSEs

P1030532During half term, Central Academy will be opening its doors to students who are preparing to take their GCSEs in the summer.

This is part of the Academy’s programme to support students to achieve the best possible results. Over the Spring Term Central Academy has pioneered in extending provision for its students by introducing a Saturday School and an extra lesson at the end of the school day.

Stephanie Slater, teacher of Maths said: “We have had an amazing response from our students to our Saturday School and extra lessons. Because they have shown such dedication and commitment to their studies, staff at the academy have volunteered to further support them by opening the school over half term to provide extra lessons and tuition.”

The Academy will be open to year 11 and 6th Form Wednesday and Thursday during half term between 9am and 2pm. Lessons will include English, Maths, German, Health and Social Care, Psychology, Art and Photography.

Academy Principal Stephen Gilby said: “We are extremely proud of our students who continue to exceed expectations. It is vital to their academic and social development that we give them every opportunity to achieve the best possible results. Our results already show that our students are seeing huge benefits to their learning outcomes due to the excellent provision at Central Academy. This is down to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff.”
