Penrith AFC Ladies matched their male equivalents as they too booked their place in the Cumberland County Cup final with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Workington Reds Ladies.
This semi final tie was played at Lakes College astro and so the match beat the heavy overnight rain.
Penrith showed their intent right from the kick off and took an early lead within 5 mins when good build up play culminated in Chez Brierley threading the ball through to Nat Broad who slotted the ball into the net.
Penrith doubled their lead on 20 mins when Chez Brierley scored a sublime individual goal. She picked up the ball in the right hand channel and left her marked sprawling before curling the ball into the far post to make it 0-2.
Penrith further extended their lead before half time as they switched play across their back line before Jade Williams slid the ball threw to Nat Broad who again showed great composure to pick her spot and make it 0-3.

Into the 2nd half Penrith changed formation as they were content to protect the lead they had and hit Workington on the counter attack. On 55 mins the game was effectively over as Chez Brierley fired home from 20 yards to make it 0-4.
Workington did pull a goal back later in the 2nd half but Penrith held out comfortably for a 1-4 victory and took the opportunity to give valuable match time to youngsters Zoe Glendinning, Bea Jackson and Hope Lawson.
Penrith now have a County Cup Final against Carlisle United Ladies to look forward to however attentions now turn to the league campaign as this Sunday Penrith entertain Preston North End.
