[A] lorry driver has been freed by firefighters after a serious two-vehicle collision on the M6 at J40.
Officers were called at 1.47pm to reports of an incident, which involved two HGVs, on the northbound entry slip road.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 13:53 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two heavy goods vehicles with one man trapped.
“The crew released the man from one of the vehicles and handed him to the care of paramedics.”
The slip road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident but has now reopened.
