[E]mergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle.
The collision has happened outside the Old Rectory, off the B5305, near to Hutton-in-the-Forest, at around 2pm.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The road is currently closed in both directions.
“The Constabulary was alerted to the collision by North West Ambulance Service.
“The motorcyclist has suffered serious, potentially life-altering injuries in the collision.
“Please avoid the area if at all possible.”
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 2:21pm firefighters were called to a small petrol spill after a motorbike crash on an access road to Hutton-in-the-Forest, Penrith.
“Crews soaked up a small amount of petrol which was leaking from a crashed motorbike using a environmental grab bag.
“Air ambulance crews removed one casualty from the scene.”
