[V]ulcan Park, Workington welcomed hundreds of people to celebrate 20 years of Workington twinning with Val De Reuil at a Party in the Park on Saturday 27th May 2017.
Festival goers were treated to market stalls from local businesses, tasty burgers and curry, street entertainers, live music, free face painting, children’s crafts and activities and a fun fair.
Workington residents also welcomed new act ‘The Lift’ who wowed crowds with their eccentric performances and The Fairly Famous Family put on a brilliant show involving the audience in tennis matches with a twist!
New Mayor, Cllr Ann Bales said: “It’s great to see everyone come together in the community and celebrate an anniversary that we are proud of.’
“Everyone has had a great time, including our international visitors.”
A special tree planting ceremony was held during the event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Workington twinning with French town, Val de Reuil.
Party in the Park was organised by Workington Town Council and sponsored by Amcor.
