[A] diverse range of speakers from across the University of Cumbria have been assembled to appear at a conference aimed at bringing academics and businesses together.
Cumbria Research & Innovation 2017 is the university’s annual celebration of research and innovation activity and is being held on Friday 7 July in the Alexandra Building of the university’s Lancaster campus.
The event aims to showcase the extent of research and innovation underway at the university while demonstrating the impact and value the work has for businesses, communities and professions in Cumbria, north Lancashire and beyond.
Keynote speakers include Dr Poonam Malik, associate professor of biomedical sciences, Professor Frank Peck, research director, Centre for Regional Economic Development (CRED) and Professor Robert Williams, professor of fine art, Institute for Arts.
A series of short ‘lightning’ talks will also be presented to showcase the wide variety of expertise available at the University of Cumbria.

- Andrea Osei – doctoral researcher, applied psychology
- Dr Chris Loynes – reader in outdoor studies, science, natural resources and outdoor studies (SNROS)
- Linda Kenward – principal Lecturer in nursing, nursing health & professional practice (NHPP)

- Dr Katie Willocks – lecturer in human resources, business, law, policing and social science (BLPSS)

There will also be a closing keynote speech from Professor Diane Cox, professor of occupational therapy from the research office and graduate school along with details of ‘Insight’ the University of Cumbria’s research output repository.
