[A] man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on the evening of Thursday 22 June at an address on Broughton Road in Dalton-in-Furness.
Police were called at around 8pm on 22nd June.
A 46-year-old man from Dalton sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to Furness General Hospital. He was arrested on suspicion of S18 Wounding.
A 42-year-old man from Dalton was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder; he sustained injuries during the incident.
A third man, a 27-year-old from Dalton, was arrested on suspicion of GBH, he was released under investigation.
An axe was seized by police.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “Timothy David Nickson, 42, of Broughton Road in Dalton will appear before Furness and District Magistrates Court on Monday 26 June.
“Nickson is charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
“A second 46-year-old man arrested in connection with the same incident has been released while the investigation continues.”
