[A] driver has been rescued after his car left the road and went down an embankment near Mallerstang.
Police called at 4:16pm yesterday, Tuesday 12th September after a brown Vauxhall Meriva, driven by a 83-year-old man from Morecambe went over Cotegill Bridge.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews, one from Kirkby Stephen and one from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the incident and rescued one casualty from a vehicle, which had gone down an embankment using a Paraguard stretcher.
“Crews were on the scene for 30 minutes.”
Cumbria Police said the driver and his female passenger were not injured.
Local mountain rescue teams also attended the incident.
