[D]rivers using the dual carriageway section of the A66 alongside Bassenthwaite Lake in Cumbria are being advised the route will be down to a single lane in each direction for several days from tonight as repairs are delivered following a collision.
The westbound carriageway was damaged in the collision on Tuesday 5 September with a 5 metre section of stone wall being knocked down.
Highways England is today installing a contraflow arrangement along a section of the A66 between Dubwath and Thornthwaite so that westbound drivers can use a lane of the eastbound carriageway until the repairs are completed.
During the closure of the westbound carriageway, staff will take the opportunity to do routine maintenance such as gully clearing and sign cleaning.
