[T]rudy Harrison MP will welcome the Northern Powerhouse Minister to Whitehaven this week to highlight the area’s nuclear excellence, diverse businesses and opportunities for growth.
Trudy Harrison will host the minister, Jake Berry MP at a business dinner on Wednesday 20th September bringing together representatives from many of the area’s leading industries and educational establishments.
Taking place at the newly refurbished Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven, the gathering will see the Northern Powerhouse Minister speak to representatives from companies including Atkins Global, Sellafield and Morgan Sindall.
Trudy Harrison, MP, said: “The Northern Powerhouse is about boosting growth across the North by building on its economic assets and addressing barriers to productivity. Following a fantastic summer of meetings with Copeland’s leading industry businesses, I felt it was necessary to invite the Minister to visit Copeland and see for himself the potential our area has to offer.
“It is important that Copeland is not overlooked when it comes to investment and inclusion within the Northern Powerhouse. I look forward to the event, and welcoming the Minister to Cumbria – it is a key opportunity for the industry in Copeland to demonstrate its relevance in the Government’s efforts to establish a Northern Powerhouse.”
The dinner event, kindly sponsored by Morgan Sindall follows an extensive summer schedule of meetings with bosses from Copeland’s leading industries.
Barry Watkinson, Nuclear Development Director at Morgan Sindall, said: “As a major employer within West Cumbria, we are keen to ensure that both the region and the nuclear industry is not forgotten in the Northern Powerhouse plans.
“Helping to promote the capability of the region and providing opportunities for the people who live in Copeland in order to help increase its economic prosperity, is key to our business.”
