[T]his Friday, Cumbria County Council in partnership with Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust will offer Carlisle residents a free health and wellbeing check-up.
The free health check-ups will run on a drop-in basis between 10am and 3pm, at Cumbria House on Botchergate, and aim to promote health awareness among city residents. There will be a wide range of support and advice on offer, covering diet and nutrition, heart health, fitness, physiotherapy, occupational therapy as well as walking aid reviews.
Community based services will also be on hand to provide guidance and support on keeping active and independent, together with local voluntary sector groups for advice and information.
Cllr Deborah Earl, the county council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to take control of their own health. Council colleagues and partners will be on hand to provide plenty of advice and support.
“As we all get older we have a higher risk of developing serious conditions. A free health check could help spot any warning signs early when they can be treated, which means you’ll be more likely to enjoy life longer.”
