[A] fund which provides financial support for placements, extra-curricular training and work experience for students at the University of Cumbria has received a welcome boost.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has enjoyed a relationship with the university for over a decade and has donated £1,500 to the university’s Bright Futures fund.
It’s the latest in a series of donations made from the company’s foundation set up to provide charitable support.
“The mission of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation is to give back to and strengthen the thousands of communities where our employees and our customers work and live through charitable support,” Iain Hughes, account manager for Enterprise, said.
Adrienne Waldie, campus services manager for the University of Cumbria, accepted the donation on behalf of the fund which supports and enhances the learning experience of students to improve their skills and enhance the chances of employment.
“A Bright Futures Student Travel Award has recently been introduced to provide bursaries to students to undertake a period of travel to further enhance their learning,” Adrienne said. ”Applicants have to deliver a short presentation to a panel on their intended travel, how it relates to their academic course programme and how this experience will be used to support their continued studies or career ambitions. Successful applicants will then report back on their experiences and be provided with a showcase to present their work. The university is delighted to have received support from the Enterprise Foundation to boost this fund thereby enabling more students to benefit from this exciting opportunity.”
