[H]IGHLY-RATED British punk band Vant will be heading to Barrow Library next month.
After a succession of tracks that have been playlisted by BBC Radio 1 and which have exceeded five million streams on Spotify, Vant released their eagerly anticipated debut album, Dumb Blood, earlier this year.
The fiery punk rock and visceral alt-rock has seen them share bills with the likes of Royal Blood, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Hinds, and Nothing But Thieves, landed them slots at major events such as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and Bestival, and taken them as far afield as Japan and Norway.
Their socially-conscious lyrics take on subjects that demand discussion, such as Syria, environmentalism, sexual assault, inequality, racism, religion, social media isolation, and the all-out self-destruction of mankind.
The band is fronted by North East-born Mattie Vant, who followed his mates in Tigercub and Demob Happy to Brighton, then on to London in 2012.
In just three months, he wrote around 30 punk rock songs, wracked with political discontent, and trying to make sense of a disintegrating world – and by 2014 he had a band together, playing a handful of shows before a broken leg confined Mattie to the studio.
