[A] CARLISLE man has admitted a September crime spree which included a knifepoint robbery and unlawful wounding.
Matthew Kyle Johnstone, 22, faced a total of six charges when he appeared at the city’s crown court earlier today (MON).
Over a video link from custody, he pleaded guilty to robbing another male of an unspecified quantity of cash, on September 16. He also confessed to the possession of a knife, at Scotch Street and English Street in Carlisle city centre, in connection with the same incident.
In addition Johnstone admitted burgling a property at Henderson Road, Carlisle, on September 14 and stealing cash; and a separate charge of possessing a bladed article – also a knife. He further admitted unlawfully wounding Reece Nicholson on the same date, before assaulting a police constable on September 17.
Judge Peter Hughes QC adjourned the case until December 4, when Johnstone, of Adelphi Terrace, Carlisle, will be sentenced at the crown court.
Background information was requested, and in the meantime Johnstone was remanded in custody by the judge.
