[P]olice have confirmed that an 74-year-old woman involved in the road traffic collision on the A689 between Brampton and Linstock today (31st October), has died.
Police were called today, at 12:06pm, to the report of a two vehicle collision involving a car and a HGV.
The 74-year-old, female, driver from Brampton , was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 65-year-old, male, driver from Lancaster, received no serious injuries.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 12:18 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision between a HGV and a car on the A69, Brampton.
“Fire crews, one from Carlisle West and one from Carlisle East, attended the incident and used cutting equipment to remove a casualty from a car.
“Sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.”
The A689 remains closed in both directions, between Brampton and Linstock whilst emergency services are at the scene.
The diversion is via A69, congestion is expected at Warwick Bridge/Corby Hill.
