[O]n Thursday 16th November Penrith & District Farmers Mart in conjunction with The Farmer Network held their annual Lake District Livestock Judging Evening.
Yet again this very popular event was well supported by the farming community of Cumbria.
Many local sponsors gave generously to once again make the occasion a successful one.
Master Judges for the various breeds were:
- Texel & Beltex: Jonny Aitkin, Wigton.
- Swaledale & Herdwick: James Rebanks, Matterdale.
- Rough Fell: Steven Bland, Gaisgill.
- Bluefaced Leicester & Mule: Adam Watson, Brampton.
Livestock Providers for the evening were:
- Rough Fell: Miss A Harrison, Millriggs.
- Texel: Messrs Pigg, Gaitsgill Hall.
- Beltex: A Ryder, Holme House.
- Swaledale: Messrs Wilson, Undercragg.
- Herdwick; Messrs Weir, Chapel Farm.
- Mule: Messrs Little, Low Moor Dyke.
- Bluefaced Leicester: Messrs Emmott, Wythop Hall
Local flower arranger Sophie Brooksbank kindly donated the lovely flowers for the evening.
Whilst the competition cards were being marked Rob Smith & Adam Day entertained everyone with music and singing.
All who attended also enjoyed a complimentary hot beef roll and a drink and the occasion was well received. £1,500 was raised for the The Great North Air Ambulance and this was match funded to £2,500 by Barclays Bank.
