[W]hitehaven Academy Sixth Form students celebrated today as they collected their A-level results. The transformational changes made this year under the Bright Tribe Trust and leadership of Warren Turner as Principal, have resulted in strong performances, notably in maths with 50% of entrants achieving A grades and 100% pass rates also achieved in biology, physics, English language, geography and sports studies as well as a number of other subjects.
Individual success stories include Melissa Palmer who has accepted a place at Cleveland to do graphic design, having gained a B in fine art and C in her extended project. Samantha Sullivan also achieved success gaining a C in psychology and both an A and B in (dual award) in health and social care.
Warren Turner, Principal at Whitehaven Academy commented on the results, “We are delighted to see results at Whitehaven Academy improve in comparison with previous years. We are really proud of all of our students at A-level, with outstanding results in maths and in health and social care where all students achieved A* – B grades. Our transformative approach has also been reflected in seeing all our students who applied to university successfully gain places at either their first or second choice institutions.
“It is wonderful to see the hard work and determination from all students, staff and the wider Bright Tribe Trust pay off with the achievement of these excellent results.”
