[A] WOULD-be burglar who targeted two occupied Carlisle city centre apartments has been sent to prison.

Anthony Robson, 34, was said to have been high on drugs when he entered the Halston aparthotel, Warwick Road, on 15th January.

On going into the first apartment, Robson was confronted by a guest who had just showered and was dressed in just a towel.

Having mumbled an excuse, Robson left but then opened the door of a nearby room. He fled after hearing voices inside.

Carlisle Crown Court heard today (FRI) that the occupants – both from overseas – were left shocked and had been made more security conscious.

Robson, of no fixed abode, was sentenced having admitted two counts of non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

He was jailed for a total of 30 months by Judge Peter Davies, who heard Robson had breached a suspended sentence by committing the crimes.
