Wigton man sentenced for attacking woman and threat to kill

[A] MAN who assaulted a woman in Wigton has been sentenced by a judge.

Jamie Brough, 26, grabbed Katie Timperon by the throat when he called at an address in the town on the night of 8th December.

Brough then committed a second offence just hours later. While being transported in a vehicle around Wigton and Carlisle, he took possession of a 12-inch kitchen knife.

When he was tackled about the blade by frightened driver Terry Lumsden, Brough threatened to kill him if he called police.

Brough admitted charges of assault and possessing a bladed article, and was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON).

He was given a 12-month community order. Brough, of South End, Wigton, must complete a 15-day rehabilitation requirement, and was ordered not to contact either Miss Timperon or Mr Lumsden for three years.
