Haslingden Ladies 1 – 3 Penrith AFC Ladies

Haslingden Tasha[P]enrith AFC Ladies churned out another victory at Haslingden Ladies to make 10 games unbeaten in the league and the 5th win on the bounce.

Penrith started very brightly and had 2 early chances before taking the lead on the 5th minute. After defending a Haslingden corner Penrith swept forward with accurate passing and Nat Broad slid the ball inside the Haslingden full back for Sarah Smith to run onto and place the ball past the advancing Haslingden keeper.

Haslingden grew into the game and their slick passing and pacey forwards were taking full advantage of the massive pitch. Penrith managed to resist the pressure and got to half time with their slim 1-0 lead intact.

Into the 2nd half Penrith again started brightly with Nat Broad, Hannah Coulthard and Tasha Scott all squandering good chances.

Haslingden were then awarded a soft penalty and equalised from the spot kick. 1-1.

Haslingden were now on top and looked favourites to go on and win the game however Penrith once again showed great resilience to remain in the contest.

After weathering the Haslingden storm, Penrith showed true class as they grabbed control of the game with 2 goals in 8 mins.

On 65 mins Nat Broad fed Sarah Smith in a carbon copy of the opening Penrith goal to make it 2-1.

Then on 73 mins Hannah Coulthard brilliantly beat the last Haslingden defender and raced clear before sublimely firing into the bottom corner from 25 meter.

Even the referee was impressed as he high fived Coulthard after the goal. 3-1

Penrith closed out the game without further drama to claim 3 hard fought points.

The score flatters Penrith somewhat and Haslingden certainly played well on the day. But Penrith once again showed their experience and are proving a tough nut to crack.

This wed 27th April Penrith AFC Ladies entertain Workington Ladies. 6.30 ko.

On sun 1st May Penrith travel to face Leigh RMI.
