Drive It Day in Cumbria

DID[F]IVA has named 2016 as the “Year of Motoring Heritage and the Federation of British Historic Vehicles Clubs made “Drive It Day” on April 24th, it’s main event with dozens of events spread around the whole of the UK when owners older cars, lorries, steam engines, tractors and motorbikes are encouraged to take them out and enjoy the pleasure of driving them.

Thousands of vehicles took to the road over the weekend and the main event in Cumbria was run by Wigton Motor Club who organised an open meet at Dalemain Mansion on the between 11am and 2 pm when owners of  some 170 cars and other vehicles arrived.

A spokesman for the Club said that they were delighted by the turnout considering the morning had seen snow in some parts of the county. A charity collection was made in aid of the Club’s nominated charities, Hospice at Home and CHUF (Children’s Heart Unit Fund).
