Rory Stewart MP has visited Greengarth care home in Penrith, to meet with his constituent Allan Burns to discuss the ongoing delayed return of residents to Edenside care home in Appleby. Rory will also be leading a march in support of Edenside, in Appleby, on Saturday March 14th.
The local MP is supporting constituents and their families who were affected by the move from Appleby following flood damage to the site during Storm Desmond.
Rory spent time with Mr Burns on Friday, chatting about his background and his time at Edenside, and the importance of the ongoing campaign.
Rory said: “I was grateful for Mr Burns’ time, and to be able to see how very upsetting and unsettling it is for Edenside’s residents to be so far away from home.
“Although the care they are receiving at Greengarth is clearly excellent, and much appreciated by the Edenside residents, they do desperately want to be moved back to Edenside. At this stage in their lives, it is important to have the stability and comfort that a familiar place provides, and crucially to be close to their families and friends.”
