Man rescued from Carlisle roof

Police were called at 2.38am this morning, 29 April following a report of a 22-year-old man stuck on a roof after climbing scaffolding on London Road in Carlisle.

Firefighters attended the scene and he was safely brought down.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The man was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary by ambulance for a check over.

“No criminal offence was committed.

“The road was closed for 25 minutes.”

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “The aerial ladder platform attended to reach the man on the three storey building.”
