Leigh RMI Ladies 1 – 7 Penrith AFC Ladies

Leigh header[P]enrith AFC Ladies scored 7 goals as they made it 7 wins on the trot with victory on the road at Leigh RMI Ladies.

Its was Leigh that took an early lead in the match when a midfielder perfectly timed her pass to open up the Penrith defence and the Leigh striker finished off the move well.

Penrith instantly clicked up a gear and quickly turned the game around. Tasha Scott scored her first goal for Penrith to equalise with a right foot shot into the bottom corner. Sarah Smith then gave Penrith the lead when she challenged with the Leigh keeper and came out with the ball to fire into an empty net.

Penrith were now rampant and Ruth Hopton fired home from 30 meters to make it 3-1.

Leigh WallFull back Hannah Fawkes broke down the left wing and produced a quality cross. Leigh were unable to deal with the cross and only ended up deflecting it into their own goal 4-1.

Hannah Coulthard rounded off the 1st half scoring with a 25 meter strike into the bottom corner. HT 5-1.

With the game won Penrith took the opportunity to rest some tired legs in the 2nd half as the punishing fixture schedule continues.

Leigh HeatherPenrith extended their lead through captain Charlotte Smith before Chez Brierley rounded off the scoring on what was her record breaking 204st appearance for

Penrith AFC Ladies. She rounded 2 defenders before her left foot shot found the net.

Final score 7-1 to Penrith.

Penrith are now up to 3rd in the NW Regional League and on wed evening they travel to 2nd placed CMB Ladies (Bolton).
