Man dies in crash with tree near Carlisle

[A] man has died after his car collided with a tree.

At 9:45pm on Monday 2 May a fatal road traffic collision occurred on a country lane in Roweltown near Carlisle.

A yellow BMW car was travelling SW from Roweltown towards Longtown when it collided with a tree on a bend.

Passing motorists stopped and assisted the driver and emergency services attended the scene however the driver was pronounced dead by paramedics.

No other persons or vehicles were involved.

The driver has been named as 48-year-old Edward Alexander Morrow, but known as Eddie to family and friends and from the Roweltown area.

Mr Morrow’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The road was closed for several hours while police collision investigators examined the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC1698 Hunter at the Cumbria Police Mobile Support Group on 101.
