Police have confirmed that convicted sex offender Barry Gibson has been arrested within the last hour.
He was arrested by officers in the Glentrool area, Newton Stuart, Dumfries and Galloway Scotland and is now in police custody.
Barry Gibson, 55, was convicted of a number of sexual offences, resulting in him receiving a life sentence in 2000. He was released on license on 26 November 2015 subject to a number of conditions.
On 6 May 2016 Gibson, who was living in the Boroughbridge Road area of York, failed to comply with a condition. An order was issued to recall him to prison.
The last sighting of Gibson was on Thursday, May 5 – the day before he breached his court order – outside the taxi rank near York Minster.
