Some birds are sociable and never stray far from their family groups.
Some birds need to spread their wings and explore the world.
Some birds create elaborate nests decorated with colourful objects.
Some birds build safe and cosy nests for raising their precious chicks.
Some birds are happy to just throw a few sticks together.
What kind of bird are you?
We want to build an enormous nest, incorporating the stories of people of Cumbria and their thoughts about home. Help us to gather the materials to build this nest, decorate it with objects of affection, and fill it with stories of love.
In a 2 hour workshop you will learn a felt making technique. From laying out fibres to rhythmic rolling, it’s a simple but magical transformation guaranteed to inspire. As wool and felt come together we will share stories of homes we have known.
Please bring 2 objects: one which reminds you of a home which you have left behind and one to represent the home which you live in now. Choose carefully, because we would like you to leave one for us to place in the nest along with your piece of felt.
