Duo wanted after Lancaster robbery

[P]OLICE are appealing for information after a 22-year-old woman was robbed by two men in Lancaster.

Around 2am on Sunday (May 29) a woman was walking close to a pathway between East Road and Melrose Street.

As she started to walk down the pathway, a man ran out from behind a wall and punched her in the face, knocking her to the floor.

He then grabbed an Iphone 4 from her hand, injuring the victim’s finger, before a second man ran from behind the wall and kicked her leg.

Both males ran off in the direction of East Road and the city centre.

The victim suffered bruising to her eye and cheek as well her leg. She also had a fingernail damaged in the assault.

The first male was described as a white, between 6ft and 6ft 3in tall, with a slim to medium build. He was wearing a waterproof sports top with a dark hood up and had a light coloured scarf covering his face. He was also wearing dark coloured sports trousers and trainers.

The second male was described as wearing dark clothing and trainers.

Police are appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the robbery.

Det Sgt Guy Hamlett said: “This was a nasty incident with a completely unnecessary level of violence.

“The victim has been left shaken by the assault and we are keen to find those responsible for this cowardly and vicious attack.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have either witnessed the incident or have seen anyone behaving suspiciously in the area beforehand.”
