Local Parish Council to take advantage of new planning tools to help shape their area

[N]eighbourhood planning is a way for local communities to set out how they wish their area to develop in the future, and allows them to write their own plan which will be used to help decide planning applications.

Bolton Parish Council are the latest organisation to do so in Eden, and have now submitted their proposed Neighbourhood Plan to us. We are now asking for people’s views on the plan which will be collected together and sent on to an independent examiner who will look at the draft plan. If he or she okays the plan it is then put to a local referendum.

Eden District Council supports neighbourhood planning and encourages local communities to have more of a say in their future. 31of our parishes are already designate as neighbourhood planning areas and more are expected to come forward in future. Bolton’s plan is an important document, which will effect the way the parish grows and develops over the coming years. Anyone with an interest is encouraged to send their comments to us.

A copy of the proposed Plan can be viewed on the Council’s website. The consultation period will run from 9am on Monday 6th June 2016 until 5pm on Monday 25 July 2016.
