[T]hrelkeld Brownies and Rainbows enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon at their local nature reserve Eycott Hill on Monday 20th June. The group of 24 children made the most of the wide open spaces at Eycott Hill Nature Reserve and explored different wildlife habitats, looking for interesting flowers and insects.
Located between Keswick and Penrith, near to the village of Mungrisdale, Eycott Hill Nature Reserve is 216 hectares of exceptionally rich wildlife habitat and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for both its biology and its geology.
A five year project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and WREN’s Biodiversity Action Fund will restore a mosaic of habitats for the benefit of wildlife and improve access to the site for people.
