Cyclist seriously injured near Penrith

7073[A] cyclist has been flown to hospital in Newcastle after falling from his pedal cycle during a time trial near Greystoke, Penrith.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 50s from the Kirkbride area sustained serious injuries.

The Great North’s Air Ambulance The Pride Of Cumbria were called Thanet Well, nr Greystoke at 2:20pm today, Saturday 25 June.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: “On arrival the aircrew Doctor and Paramedic team assessed and treated a male for head and shoulder injuries before flying him to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.”
