[C]aitlin Whitehead, 13, of Kendal Golf Club retained the Ladies County Championship Title for the second year running. The annual competition was held at Ulverston Golf Club in Cumbria and Caitlin reduced her handicap to scratch as she progressed through the rounds.

Caitlin also won the Stroke Play Championship during the two qualifying rounds and to complete the hat-trick for the week, she also took the title of the Girls Junior County Champion back to her home club.

Sheena McDonald, Cumbria Lady Captain said: “We had a fantastic week of golf with quality play from all involved. Caitlin is certainly a star of the future and we are thrilled to play alongside her in team events and to celebrate her individual successes at Club, County and National Level. Caitlin’s matches against Nicola Wood from Furness Golf Club in the semis and Hannah Smith from Silloth Golf Club in the final show that the game is really thriving within our county and that makes my role an absolute pleasure.”
