Penrith Ladies to face Super League team

Defo Group 1[P]enrith AFC Ladies returnto pre season training this week after a short summer break. The team will have to hit the ground running as an incidental chat resulted in a hastily arranged friendly match with Womens Super League Division 1 giants Durham Women.

Manager Simon Savage said: “It came totally out of the blue. Durham had a free weekend and wanted to have a look at a couple of trialists. Somehow Penrith AFC Ladies was mentioned as a possibility before I knew it contact was made and the friendly was confirmed.

“It’s actually a bit scary. Durham are a semi pro team playing at the top level of the womens game. They are mid season and so will be at the top of their fitness too. It’s going to be a tough day for our girls but it was too good an opportunity to turn down.”

Unfortunately, Penrith’s Frenchfields Park pitch is not available for the match as its summer maintenance programme continue so the game will be played at Harraby’s new 3G facility this Sunday 3rd July 2pm ko. Support would be welcomed.

New players are always welcome at the Penrith AFC Ladies.
