Cyclist hurt in A590 crash

[A] cyclist has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the A590.

At approx 6:30pm on Sunday 3 July a road traffic collision occurred on the A590 westbound at Heaves near Levens.

The collision involved a blue Rover 214, driven by a 39-year-old man from Barrow, who was in collision with a 19-year-old male cyclist from Milnthorpe.

The cyclist sustained serious injures and was flown to Preston Royal Infirmary.

The car driver was uninjured.

The A590 westbound was closed for three hours while police examined the scene.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101.
