[A]llerdale Borough Council is holding a number of special town centre clean-ups over the next few days, and any help from volunteers is more than welcome.

Every year, the Council’s Streetscene team leads special clean-up initiatives to key areas in the town centres. Jobs can include cutting down overhanging branches, painting street furniture, and clearing away weeds. Areas which recently enjoyed a bit of attention were Workington’s harbourside and the foreshore in Keswick.

The team will be out over the next few days at the following times and places:

  • 6 July 2016 – Aspatria, meet at 10am at the Bradshaw Car Park
  • 8 July 2016 – Wigton, meet at 10am at Wigton Market Hall café
  • 11 July 2016 – Silloth, meet at 10am at Solway Coast Discovery Centre

These initiatives are a great way for members of the community to come along and help spruce up an area of their town. All tools are provided along with refreshments. Volunteers are just advised to wear suitable clothing. Anyone with any enquiries should contact our Streetscene team on 01900 702 800.

Further clean-up days are being planned for other areas over the coming weeks.
