[A] police officer based in north Cumbria will brave the chilly waters of the Royal Victoria Dock in London as she bids to raise funds for the Eden Valley Hospice.

PC Fiona Rawes is taking part in the Great London Newham Swim on Saturday 16th July 2016.

Fiona said: “I chose to support Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw as I am very grateful for the support given to my family and friends over the year and believe it is a vital local charity in our community.

“Everybody taking part in the different events at the Great London Newham Swim will have their own reason and purpose for undertaking one of the courses. Whether they are completing a personal challenge or fundraising in aid of a local charity, they will create a memory which will last a life time.

“I am really looking forward to participating in the swim which is one of the largest open water swimming events in the country and it’s a new location for me as I have never swam in the Thames before.

“I have always enjoyed open water swimming to keep fit and healthy. However I am not looking forward to the expected drop in water quality from what I am used to swimming in the Lake District where I have been training.”

The money raised by Fiona will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to adults and children with life limiting illnesses. If you would like to sponsor Fiona please visit:
