Man trapped in Carlisle crash

[P]olice were called at 16.06pm yesterday, Monday 18 July to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A595 to the B5302 West Woodside outside Park House.

A silver Citroen Piccasso driven by a 70-year-old collided with a Seat Leon driven by a 21-year-old.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “They received only minor injuries.”

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “The driver was trapped in a car which was on its side.

“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualty, a man, who was handed into the care of paramedics.

“The road was closed by police as the incident was tackled.”
