Thunderstorms wreak havoc to Cumbria power grid

ENW-image-sml[T]hunderstorms and lightning have been causing problems to the power supply grid in Cumbria for the past six hours.

Electricity North West say they been restoring power through the night.

3,000 customers in Cumbria were off at peak, 1,800 customer are off now, 1000 in Penrith; 600 in Keswick, 100 in Carlisle and 100 other areas of Cumbria.

A spokesman for Electricity North West said: “We’ve had 11 separate faults.

“Engineers are working hard to restore power to the remaining customers.
