[D]avid Allen, a local accountancy and business services firm, launched their charity partnership with Eden Valley Hospice and Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland in August 2015 to help generate funds to provide care to people who suffer from life limiting illnesses.
The partnership, was launched with the aim to raise £10,000 over the 12 months – the biggest donation ever to be made by the firm. Following a Charity Diamond Ball to end the year of fundraising activities last month the team at David Allen are delighted to announce the grand total raised of £23,232.
David Allen, Managing Partner at the firm said: “As a well-known, reputable employer across Cumbria, I recognise the importance of giving something back to the communities in which we live and work and as such I am proud that our Charity of the Year initiative has generated such a fantastic amount of money for both charities to benefit from.”
Money raised by the partnership will help fund the following initiatives:
- Provide 24/7 care to those with life-limiting and terminal illnesses in Cumbria, 365 days a year.
- Support patients and their families and carers at what can be a very difficult time in their lives, ensuring they don’t have to do it alone.
- Provide activities for adults and children across Cumbria with life limiting illnesses.
- Ensure the provision of registered nurses, health care assistants, assistant practitioners and other health care professionals.
- Go some way to raising the combined £4million+ that the two hospices need to raise each year in order to provide the care their patients need.
Julie Blundell, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Hospice at Home said: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with the David Allen team. The great funds raised are extremely important for Hospice at Home, especially as patient referrals during 2015-2016 increased by 14%.
“This added to the 28% increase seen in the previous year equates to a massive rise in referrals over the last 2 years. Such an increase puts great strain on our resources so funds such as this are especially important. We hope the wonderful relationship we have built will be lasting and we truly thank all at David Allen for their generosity, effort and enthusiasm. We feel very privileged to have such a wonderful supporter’s onboard.”
Natalie Bingham, Corporate Fundraiser at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount of money raised by the team at David Allen. Their fundraising activities have been varied and fun and it’s been wonderful to see the whole team get so involved. The passion and enthusiasm shown by everybody is admirable and they have been an absolute pleasure to work alongside. The money raised will make a real difference to the patients that we care for, here at Eden Valley Hospice.’’
Each year David Allen will work with a nominated local charity in order to give something back to the local area, and help boost funding for these much valued services.
