Half price stays at Derwentwater Independent Hostel, thanks to a flood recovery grant

[D]erwentwater Independent Hostel (Barrow House) had to close in December and January due to storm damage, but thanks to a grant from the Cumbria County Council Flood Recovery Scheme, we have been celebrating our re-opening with special offers.

The scheme stipulates that part of the grant should be spent on discounts, and so we have decided to offer Cumbrian residents 50% off a one or two night stay at Derwentwater Independent Hostel, for bookings within 2016 (until all the grant money is used up). This is for families and individuals rather than organised groups, and we still have some family rooms available for October half term.

We thought that anyone living in Cumbria might like a little break, with a rejuvenating change of scene for minimum expense, and so you do not need to have been flooded to qualify for the offer.

Derwentwater Independent Hostel is ideal for relaxing and re-charging, with a friendly atmosphere, lots of space, and a peaceful location in the Borrowdale Valley. Our beautiful Georgian house overlooks Derwent Water, and a spectacular (recently too spectacular!) waterfall tumbles through the wildlife-rich grounds, where you can often see red squirrels. The offer does not include food and drink, but we have very affordable homemade meals, or guests can use the spacious self-catering kitchen. Both family rooms and dormitory beds are available.

The hostel is 3 miles from Keswick, with plenty of parking space and a bus stop at the bottom of the driveway. We are also very close to Ashness Jetty. Please see our website for more information about the hostel and things to do.

Please get in touch by phone or email if you are interested in the offer, and hopefully we will be able to welcome you to Derwentwater soon.
