Have Your Say on the future governance of Kaber parish

[K]aber near Kirkby Stephen is one of the smallest parishes in Eden District with under 100 electors. Local residents are being asked to participate in a Community Governance Review to determine how they would like their parish to be governed in the future.

The Review is currently being undertaken by Eden District Council after a petition was signed by 64% of Kaber Parish’s electorate.

Eden District Council agreed to undertake the Community Governance Review at its full Council meeting on 14 July 2016.

The District Council will be contacting Kaber residents and local stakeholders for their views and the options that are included in the community governance review are to:

  • Remain a Parish Council
  • Covert to a Parish Meeting
  • Be grouped with a neighbouring Parish
  • Be abolished and become an unparished area

Letters are being sent out with a questionnaire to local residents and stakeholders which the District Council is asking to be returned by 14 October 2016.

For more information about the Kaber Community Governance Review visit:  www.eden.gov.uk/democracy/kaber or call Eden District Council on 01768 817817.
