[B]etter Care Together partners are coming together at the Westmorland Show on 8th September for a fun filled, informative day with plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Kendal GP Dr Richard Russell said: “I am excited to welcome people from the South Lakes and further afield to the Better Care Together marquee, where they can hear and experience the latest developments across the wide variety of health services we offer in Morecambe Bay.
We hope that lots of people will come and see us on the day and will be keen to get involved in the various activities on offer including having a free health MOT!”
The ever popular paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service will attend the stand with a working ambulance and will be on hand to answer questions about the service they provide across the region. Children and adults will get to see inside of the ambulances and learn all about resuscitation and first aid advice.
In line with the ‘Flourish’ Campaign being run by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust which promotes healthy eating, there will be delicious and nutritious snacks on offer courtesy of our Hospital chefs.
Visitors to the show can find out more about important health subjects such as bowel screening, dentistry, respiratory and sexual health. The day will provide an opportunity to ask questions about your health and meet the diabetes and mental health teams. Additionally, you can come and meet the individuals leading on local health projects including those driving the Kendal donor town initiative and Morecambe bay charities.
The NHS stand at the show will also include representatives from Better Care Together who will be providing information on the strategy which has been awarded national Vanguard status.
A variety of NHS staff will come together in the Better Care Together marquee from our partner organisations including Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB), Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group, Lancashire North Clinical Commissioning Group and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS). Everyone is looking forward to meeting visitors to the show and supporting them to better health.
Finally, on the day you will be accompanied by the wonderful team from the hospital radio who join us every year.
The Westmorland Show is located at the showground near Crooklands, Kendal.
