UHMBT staff to showcase improvements at Annual Members’ Meeting

[M]embers of the public are being invited to open the lid on University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT), and take a closer look at the Trust’s services and the improvements made by staff, at this year’s Annual Members’ Meeting.

The event, which is open to all of the Trust’s Foundation Trust Members and members of the public, will take place on Thursday 15 September 2016, between 11am and 2.45pm, at Lancaster Town Hall.

Members of the public are invited to arrive for 11am on the day, and the formal meeting starting at 11.15am with a special video showcasing the Trust’s highlights from over the past year. This will be followed by a question and answer session, allowing members of the public to ask the Chief Executive and Chair of the Trust any questions they may have.

Lunch will be provided for those that attend, following which a special market place will be held featuring stalls from various Trust services, partner organisations and voluntary groups. These stalls are an opportunity for people to find out more about the services and speak to staff and representatives about the work they do.

Amongst the services showcased will be:

  • Dementia services
  • Better Care Together
  • Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity
  • Listening into Action – the Trust’s staff-led improvement schemes
  • Patient Relations team
  • Pharmacy services
  • Radiology services
  • Surgery and Critical Care Services
  • Volunteer and involvement teams

The market place will also include stands from some of the Trust’s local partners, including:

  • Royal Voluntary Service
  • Cancer Care
  • Healthwatch Lancashire
  • Autism Unite
  • North West Blood Bikes
  • St. John’s Hospice
  • Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust Choir

The Trust’s Annual Accounts and Report of External Auditors will also be presented towards the end of the meeting, with copies available for Members to take away.

Pearse Butler, Chair, UHMBT, said: “Our Annual Members’ Meeting is always one of the highlights of the year for me as it is a great opportunity for us to talk directly to our Members and the public about what we have been doing to improve services over the last year, and what we are planning in the year to come.

“Following feedback from last year’s event, we have changed the format this year to give those that attend as many opportunities as possible to engage with the Trust Board, our Governors and members of staff from across our services.

“Not only have we brought back the market place which gives people the chance to talk to staff about their service; this year, we have invited some of our partner organisations to help people understand how we work together and why. We are also being treated to a special performance from Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust Choir!

“We look forward to welcoming our Members and the public to the event, and hope that as many people as possible can join us on the day.”

The agenda for the formal meeting will be available on the Trust website from Friday 9 September 2016.
