Carlisle murder suspect appears in court

[A] man has appeared at the magistrates Court in Carlisle today [Mon] charged with the murder of 33-year-old Melinda Korosi at her home on Orton Road on the western side of the city, and three charges of raping Miss Korosi.

During the five-minute hearing before District Judge Gerald Chalk, Miklos Verebes, 29, spoke only to confirm his personal details, he gave his address as no-fixed-abode, no-pleas were entered and he was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on September 20.

The allegation relates from September 15, when police officers, a rapid response paramedic and an ambulance crew and doctor went to the address, they found Miss Melinda Korosi critically injured at her home just after 6am on the Thursday morning, they tried to resuscitate her however a short while later she was pronounced dead, the mother of two-young children had worked for Dominos Pizza on London Road since August. Miss Korosi was originally from Hungry.

Verebes also faces three-charges of rape which were allegedly committed against Miss Korosi, these are ‘historical’ offences alleged to have been carried out between October 1, 2012 and 20, July 2016.
